Fridays At The Farm is a new day program created for nonspeaking autistic adults to spend meaningful time with peers while immersed in nature. Spellers and typers of all levels can enjoy the grounding rhythm of the farm. There will opportunities for nonspeakers to practice text-based communication in organic conversations. Participants new to this type of communication will be offered choices on a whiteboard.
The schedule and activities will be decided by the participants themselves; each nonspeaker must bring their support person/CP/DSP. The start time will be 10am and ending no later than 2pm, depending on how long participants wish to stay. Everyone brings their own lunch; healthy snacks and water will be provided.
This program centers autonomy, connection, and shared experience – offering a welcoming space to be present, be understood, and belong. Please contact us if you are interested; our first date will be Friday, June 5. While there is no cost to participate in our pilot year of this day program, we welcome families to join our monthly Pateron to support our new endeavors for spellers and typers. Thank you so much!
